Tracie Noriega

Sr Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Professional Learning

I am a second-generation Filipina -American, Wife, and Mother of 4. In my 28th year as an Educator, I have served as a teacher, site administrator, and district level administrator. My last role in the TK-12 system was as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the students of San Lorenzo Unified. A few other roles where I serve, are as the immediate Past President of FAEAC ( Filipino-American Educators Association of CA) and faculty for Liberated Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum Consortium.

Education became the route I chose to take when inspired by my high school teachers who supported me as a teen mom struggling to balance motherhood, education. It was Ethnic Studies that helped me to understand my experiences as the daughter of Filipino immigrants living in a non-diverse neighborhood. It was Ethnic Studies that helped me to realize the detrimental patterns I was perpetuating for myself and my son and allowed me to heal. It was Ethnic Studies that then became my core as a future Educator. It is Ethnic Studies and its values that continue to keep me centered as an Educator today and always.
